DescriptionWHY: An ever-growing body of research demonstrates a seemingly endless list of benefits for those who meditate: e.g, 50% reduction in psychiatric symptoms (including depression and anxiety); 50% reduction in chronic pain symptoms; and an improvement rate of 75% in a group of “long-term insomniacs.” Meditation creates visible changes in the brain that make meditators healthier, smarter, calmer and happier compared to non-meditators. Why not find out for yourself? NOTE: This is a “drop-in” group; no pre-registration is required. WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Anyone interested in practicing meditation—including beginners. WHAT TO EXPECT: The first 15 minutes will involve basic meditation instructions for newcomers. We will then meditate for 30 minutes, and will have 15 minutes left at the end for sharing, questions, and socializing. Tai Chi and Qi Gong Class

DescriptionTai Chi and Qi Gong are ancient Chinese fitness systems based on relaxed body alignment and smooth flow of energy. They are a moving meditation that consist of gentle and easy movements that promote health and well-being. Qi Gong means "energy practice", while Tai Chi means "great polarity". Together, these arts help to balance the polar energies of yin and yang to create a natural sense of ease and stability. Instructor Jake Newell has been practicing for 17 years.
